Caves and Mines of the Middle Klamath River Region, northern Siskiyou County.
.
Centered at the friendly community of Happy Camp, this area is located along State Highway 96, which follows the Klamath River through a lovely landscape of rugged mountains forested with pine, oak, madrone and bushes. The Siskiyous are a unique and ancient mountain range, home to the Karuk tribe and rich in mining history. The photo at right shows the Oak Hollow Creek cave entrance. This cave is 100 feet off Highway 96.

The entrance to the Clear Creek Cave. This cave is 100 feet off Highway 96, and about a 40 foot climb up a hill.

The landscape reflects the area's long mining history. The historic buildings are 1/4 mile by dirt road off Highway 96, then up a 300 foot path.
