Spring snow on Mount Shasta; Bunny Flat and surrounding areas - film locations in Siskiyou County.
Bunny Flat is located on Everitt Memorial Highway on Mount Shasta, just 7 miles from the city of Mt. Shasta in Siskiyou County, northern Califonria.
The forested areas and open meadows of Bunny Flat, at an elevation of 7500', are covered with snow late into the spring and early summer. On June 1, 2000, the snow pack is aproximately 40". If weather is warm this will melt quickly over the next few weeks; if cool the snow could last until early July.
Everitt Memorial Highway is paved and open year-round to the Bunny Flat parking area. The road to higher elevations is closed util early July, but snowfields above tree line in the region of the Old Ski Bowl can be reached by snowmobiles which are available for rent.
Incredible views of Mount Shasta are available from Bunny Flat.
Bunny Flat is the staging area for mountaineers heading to the summit of Mount Shasta.
