Waterfalls and wild water locations in Siskiyou County.

Lower McCloud Falls is located along Highway 89 seven miles east of the historic lumber mill town of McCloud in south county.

In the spring and early summer, the high water may spread over the entire curve of the rocks. In late summer, the flow is concentrated into the deep crevices on the right side.

The McCloud River at Lower Falls pours over rocks, plunging in a roaring cascade ten feet into a deep pool.

Fishermen lover Lower Falls! In the gentler waters of mid-summer, the pool is a popluar swimming spot. The excellent U S ForestService campground, Fowler's Campground, is located beside the river just 1/2 mile above Lower Falls.

Wide stairs lead down from the paved parking area above Lower Falls.

A third waterfall, Middle Falls, (75 feet wide and 35 feet high) is located a quarter mile downriver, accessible by foot. This photo of Middle Falls courtesy Erich Ziller of Eastmans West Photography. Photos of Upper Falls and Lower Falls by Jane English.

Upper McCloud Falls is just a few miles upriver from Lower Falls. The river cascades through cliffs topped with huge ponderosa pines.

Vehicle access to Upper McCloud Falls follows a road above the river, leading to parking areas along the chasm directly above the waterfall.

Hedge Creek Falls is located in Dunsmuir, the historic railroad town on Interstate 5 at the southern edge of Siskiyou County, 50 miles north of Redding. This delightful little falls pours over cliffs of columnar basalt into a verdant grotto. The parking is adjacent to the freeway...the falls a few minutes walk from the parking area.

Whitewater Rivers Siskiyou County has numerous whitewater rivers, with thrilling rapids and cascades adjacent to highways and access roads. These views of the Klamath River and (below) the Salmon River by photographer Erich Ziller are typical examples of the scenery available.
